Dr. Raphael A. Alabi

Dr. Raphael A. Alabi is the Coordinator of the Tourism and Development Programme. He was a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Brown University, Providence, U.S.A. from September, 1995 to June 1996 under the Ibadan – Brown Exchange Programme. He was also a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, University of Ghana, Legon from August 2009 to July 2010. He is a member of many Learned Societies including the Archaeological Association of Nigeria, West African Archaeological Association, Society of Africanist Archaeologist, World Archaeological Congress, and the Palynological Association of Nigeria. He is an Editorial Executive, Journal of Environment and Culture, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Science Research. He has also held many administrative positions in the University. He was at various times a member of the Faculty of Science Board of Studies, Appointment and Promotions Panel, and a representative of the Faculty of Science on the Board of the Institute of African Studies. He was Assistant Warden, Kuti Hall from 2003 to 2005 and Hall Warden from January, 2005 to July 2008. Dr Alabi has taught courses in the department of Archaeology and Anthropology at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has also taught courses in the Professional Master of Forensic Science Programme in the same department and the Tourism and Development Programme of the Centre for Sustainable Development. He is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Institute of Archaeology and Museum Studies, Jos. He has published many articles in local and international journals, as well as chapters in books and technical reports. He has attended many Conferences and Workshops within and outside Nigeria, with about eight of these in the last five years. He is happily married and blessed with children.
