Labode Popoolaholds a 1990 Doctoral Degree in Forest Economics from the University of Ibadan. He commenced his career in academics as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Ibadan in 1988 and rose steadily to become a Professor in 2002, 10 years after he was appointed as Lecturer II. He has extensive experience in University administration. He was at various times Undergraduate Coordinator, Postgraduate Coordinator, Sub-Dean (Undergraduate), Sub-Dean (Postgraduate) of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry and Sub-Dean, Postgraduate School. He was appointed Head of Department of Forest Resources Management, UI in 2005 and was a year after (2006) elected Dean of the Postgraduate School University of the University, a position he occupied for four years.He has over 20 years experience as consultant and researcher in the economic and financial analyses of projects and programmes in forestry and natural resources development with the following institutions: World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), Nairobi, Kenya where he is currently a member of West African Sub-regional Agro-forestry Training Group. He is also a consultant to the African Development Bank, FAO, World Bank, DFID, African Forest Forum (AFF), Nigeria Conservation Foundation, several government and non-governmental organizations. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA), member, Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA), UK and several national and international professional associations and networks. He has led several grant winning teams internationally. The most recent of these is the MacArthur-funded grant for the Master’s in Development Practice Programme which won USD 900,000.00 for the University of Ibadan. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development with concurrent responsibility as the Coordinator of MDP. A Fellow of the Forestry Association of Nigeria, Labode has edited/co-edited over 20 major publications and has about 100 publications to his credit.
DAVID A. AREMU
David A. Aremu obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Archaeology in 1990 from the department of Archaeology and Anthropology, Faculty of Science, University of Ibadan. He commenced his career in academics in 1982 as a Graduate Assistant and rose steadily to become a Professor in 2006. He has extensive experience in University Administration. He was Staff-Students Liaison Officer, Faculty of Science Representative on Board of African Studies, U.I., Senate Representative on the Students Welfare Committee, Acting Head of Department 2000-2002. He is the Business Manager of West African Journal of Archaeology from 1994 to the present. He was President of Archaeological Association of Nigeria from 2005-2008. He is a member of many other International Professional Bodies.
He was a member of Nigerian delegation to UNESCO’S 30th Congress in Paris in 1990. He is a consultant to the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation and the Nigeria National Parks. He is also a consultant to Ogun State Tourism Board and a member of Ekiti and Oke-Ero, Kwara State Tourism Committee.
He was a resource person to Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation in Southwestern Nigeria Zone from 1995 to 2003. He has operated several successful grants in cultural and ecotourism development. He initiated the teaching of Tourism at the Masters level in the University of Ibadan. He has over 50 publications in books and international journals to his credit. He has contributed significantly to the promotion of Tourism Development in Nigeria. He has travelled widely within and outside Nigeria. He is the current Coordinator of Tourism and Development Programme in the Centre for Sustainable Development.
GODSON ANA
Godson Ana is an Environmental Health Practitioner who currently teaches Environmental Health Sciences in the Faculty of Public Health, University of Ibadan. He possesses a Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry and Master of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering all from the University of Port Harcourt. He also has a Masters of Public health degree and doctorate degree all in Environmental Health from the University of Ibadan. His primary area of research focus is in Air quality management, waste management, renewable energy and climate change. Professional courses attended include renewable energy training in India (2003) organized by the Ministry of Renewable energy in collaboration with International Research Agency on development and Energy (IRADE) , Mac Arthur sponsored staff development programme in the USA (2004) on Indoor Air pollution, Atmospheres and Climate change course in Grenoble, France (2008), TWAS sponsored research fellowship on Atmospheric toxicology in India (2009) and Air pollution management courses in Sweden (2009) and Chile (2010). Climate change programmes and projects involved in include capacity building workshop on climate change for school children in Ibadan(2008) organized by Nigeria Environmental Studies and Action Team (NEST) with support from CIDA Canada, Green initiatives campaign among youths in the University of Ibadan (2008) sponsored by the British council, Human Dimensions of Climate change at the 10th world congress of the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) in Brisbane, Australia (2008) and climate change leadership workshop in New Delhi, India (2009). Dr Ana has publications in urban and industrial air pollution and has completed research work on topical issues viz air pollution from the downstream petroleum industries in the Niger Delta area, air pollution from multiple sources in Ibadan and Household generation of biogas; while research work is currently ongoing on characterization and optimization of different cellulosic wastes for biofuel production, green house gas generation profile from waste dumpsites in Ibadan, temporal and spatial trends of Green house gases (CO2) in Ibadan as well as adaptive mechanisms to thermal related events among in-school children in Ibadan. He is currently, the Coordinator of the Climate and Society Programme at CESDEV, UI.
EMMANUEL REMI AIYEDE
Emmanuel Remi Aiyede graduated with a Ph.D in political science from the University of Ibadan in 2000. He began his career as a fellow at the Governance Unit of the Development Policy Centre (DPC) before joining the University of Lagos to pursue an academic career from where join the University of Ibadan in 2005. His research and teaching interests are in the areas governance, public policy and administration, and political theory. His research work focuses on the relationship between institutions and behaviour and the process whereby institutions originate and change. Thus, his work provides a useful link between public policy, administrative reform and democratic institution building. His most recent work is on “the political economy of fiscal federalism and the dilemma of constructing a developmental state in Nigeria” International Political Science Review (June 2009). He co-edited and co-authored Readings in Development Policy and Capacity Building in Nigeria (2003) and Intergovernmental Relations in Nigeria (2004) respectively.
He won a 2003 medal in the World Bank prize for Outstanding Research in Development of the Global Development Network (GDN). He is an alumnus, Fulbright Study of the US Institute of National Security Policy after 9/11, University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware USA, in 2009. He is also a beneficiary of the Executive Education programme funded by Mo Ibrahim Foundation, on ‘Capacity Building for Governance: Index of African Governance Workshop’ at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), 2008. He was Visiting Fellow, Transregional Center for Democratic Studies (TCDS) New School University, New York, 2000. Dr Aiyede is Coordinates the Leadership and Governance Programme of the Centre and contributes regularly to public discourse in Nigerian media and he is a member of the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Tribune.
OLANREWAJU OLANIYAN
Olanrewaju Olaniyan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan where he teaches Economics of Human Resources and Macroeconomics. He graduated with First Class Honours in Educational Management before obtaining M.Sc. and PhD in Economics from the University of Ibadan. His research interests include Economics of Education, Poverty and Inequality, Social Protection and Health Economics. He has experience in social policy work in developing countries for more than 15 years during which he has been able to interact and work with senior-level technocrats and officials. He led the team that prepared the Social Protection Policy note for Nigeria in 2005 and was also part of the team that prepared the National Health Accounts of Nigeria 2003-2005. He has at various times been visiting fellow at Cornell Food and Nutrition Policy Programme, Cornell University and Centre for the Study of African Economies, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
BOLANLE WAHAB
Bolanle Wahab is the Coordinator of Indigenous Knowledge and Development (IKAD) Programme under the Centre for Sustainable Development (CESDEV), University of Ibadan (UI). He is also a Senior Lecturer and Ag. Head of Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Ibadan. He was a visiting scholar to the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls (USA) in 1996, a temporary Assistant Professor at the Department of Community and Regional Planning, Iowa State University, Ames (USA), and a visiting scholar at the Centre for Indigenous Knowledge for Agricultural and Rural Development (CIKARD), Iowa State University, Ames (USA) (1997) where he worked closely with the Director, late Professor Denis Mike Warren. Between 1996 and 1997 he mentored and supervised Iowa State University students on Minority International Research Training Programme in Nigeria on indigenous knowledge and related issues jointly sponsored by the National Institute of Health, Michigan State University/CIKARD and Iowa State University, Ames, USA and co-authored the publications of the research outcomes. He established a narrow weaving loom for the teaching of indigenous Yoruba hand-woven textile (‘aso-oke’) at the Department of Design, Family and Consumer Sciences, University of Northern Iowa, USA in September 1996. He was a Co-Director (for Nigeria), of the Consortium for Indigenous Textile and Clothing Research (U.S.A. and Nigeria), 1995 to 2001. He is a Co-Coordinator/Corresponding Editor of Yoruba Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (YORCIK) (1997 to date) domiciled at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, and also the Secretary of Indigenous Knowledge Study Group, University of Ibadan. He has a number of articles and co-edited publications on indigenous knowledge systems. He encourages and supervises postgraduate students’ dissertations on indigenous knowledge and/or its applications to housing, settlement planning, water, hygiene and sanitation, community driven development and empowerment.
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (FNITP) and Member, International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments.
OLUKAYODE OGUNSANWO
Olukayode Ogunsanwo is a senior lecturer with the Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ibadan. He has put up 21 years of service as a professional forester and over 13 years of teaching and research experience at the university. He has served as coordinator of post graduate programme at the department of forest resources management, University of Ibadan, Nigeria between June 2005 and October 2009. As a team worker, he has participated in a number of research and development projects both as team leader and as project collaborator within and outside Nigeria. Dr Ogunsanwo is a life member, Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN), a member, Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry of Nigeria (TAPPIN), member, African Forest Research Network (AFORNET) and Competence Platform on Energy crop and Agroforestry systems for Arid and Semi Arid Ecosystems-Africa (COMPETE). He is the coordinator of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Programme (EPNARP) of the Centre for Sustainable Development, University of Ibadan.
